Multi-stream limits in IPTV: what 1, 2, 3, 5 simultaneous streams mean
The simultaneous-stream cap is the most important spec for multi-person households, and it is often enforced in surprising ways.
The "simultaneous streams" cap is how many devices can play from one subscription at the same time. Get this wrong in a household and you get "subscription in use" errors at dinner-time just when everyone wants to watch different things.
How enforcement actually works
Most IPTV providers count each active stream connection, not each device. A TV that's paused for 30 minutes often still counts because the connection stays open. This is why "2 simultaneous" often feels like "just barely 2".
What each tier can support
What a "stream in use" error actually means
- Most likely: you left a TV paused and the connection hasn't timed out.
- Possible: someone in your household is watching.
- Possible: account credentials have leaked.
- Rare: the provider's tracking is buggy (fix: restart app on all TVs).
