My IPTV suddenly stopped working — diagnostic checklist
Step-by-step diagnostic for when your IPTV service stops working entirely. Five checks, in order, to isolate the cause.
If your IPTV was working yesterday and suddenly it's not, work through these five checks in order. Most "IPTV stopped working" reports trace back to check 1 or 2.
1. Is your subscription still active?
Log into your provider's customer portal. If the portal itself is down or refuses your login, the provider may have been raided, the reseller may have disappeared, or your account may have expired.
2. Is the server URL still valid?
IPTV providers rotate their CDN hostnames to avoid ISP blocks. An M3U URL that worked last month may now 404. Email the provider's support and ask for a fresh M3U or Xtream Codes credentials.
3. Can you reach the server at all?
- From a browser: visit
http://SERVER:PORT/player_api.php?username=&password=. If you get JSON (even an error), the server is reachable. - If you get "connection refused" or DNS error: your ISP may be blocking the domain. Change DNS to 1.1.1.1 or use a VPN to confirm.
4. Did your IPTV player update?
Auto-updates to TiviMate, IPTV Smarters, or XCIPTV occasionally break Xtream Codes logins for specific provider configurations. Check the app's update notes on Play Store / App Store. Roll back if needed (sideload the previous APK on Android TV).
5. Did your router change?
A firmware update, a factory reset, or a new router might have re-enabled an ISP-level DNS block, reset QoS rules, or changed your public IP to a range your provider has blocked. Try DNS 1.1.1.1 first; if that doesn't work, try a VPN temporarily.
