IPTV player keeps crashing — how to diagnose
When TiviMate, IPTV Smarters, or XCIPTV crashes on launch or during playback, here are the four fixes that actually help.
Repeated player crashes almost always trace to memory pressure, a corrupted EPG cache, or a codec incompatibility. Check in this order:
1. Clear the EPG cache
TiviMate keeps a large EPG cache. If your TV has <2GB RAM (Fire TV Stick Lite, Chromecast with Google TV basic) and your EPG is a global feed, the cache can exceed available memory. Settings → Storage → clear EPG cache.
2. Switch to a smaller EPG source
Replace a global EPG (iptv-org, 100+ MB) with a country-specific one (epgshare01.online region feeds, 5–10 MB). Same functionality, 10x less memory.
3. Force hardware decoding
On Android TV / Google TV: Settings → Playback → Decoder → Hardware. Software decoding fallback on 50fps or HEVC streams causes crashes on low-RAM devices.
4. Uninstall + reinstall
If the app file itself is corrupted, uninstall and reinstall. Back up your playlists first: TiviMate Premium has a cloud-backup feature (Settings → Backup); IPTV Smarters does not, so take screenshots of each playlist's credentials.
