Audio and video out of sync in IPTV — how to fix lip-sync

Lip-sync drift is either a codec mismatch, a HDMI ARC routing bug, or a player buffer issue. Here are the three fixes.

Audio drifting 200–500ms behind (or ahead of) video is the most annoying IPTV glitch — everything works, but talking heads look dubbed. Three causes, three fixes.

1. HDMI ARC / eARC routing delay

If you route TV audio through a soundbar or AV receiver via HDMI ARC, the soundbar adds its own audio-processing delay (lipsync offset). TVs have an "Audio delay" or "Lipsync" setting — usually in Settings → Audio → Delay. Try +80ms first, adjust from there.

2. Codec passthrough bug

Some IPTV streams use Dolby Digital Plus audio. If your TV's audio output is set to "Auto" or "Bitstream" and the soundbar doesn't fully support the codec, you get drift. Force audio output to PCM in the TV's sound settings for IPTV playback.

3. Player-level audio delay

TiviMate and IPTV Smarters both expose per-channel audio-delay sliders (long-press a channel → Playback → Audio delay). Use this when the drift is specific to one channel only (usually caused by the upstream broadcaster's encoder, not your hardware).
